Licor 43 and new Espresso Machines

Agent Ackme and I also treated ourselves to Licor 43 and new Espresso machines.
(Ackme’s counter is pictured)

Licor 43 is a Spanish liqueur with hundreds of years of lore behind it. They claim it came about at the same time as the founding of Carthage. 43 ingredients. I would imagine some of the ingredients have changed around since then.

The espresso machine is a beast. Sturdy, mostly metal construction. Agent Ackme says it works damn well. A Lello 45900 Ariete Espresso/Cappuccino Maker. 99 bucks on Amazon.

Caffeine and booze. That’ll keep the holiday feel.

The Party-Blowout Weekend 2006 II

December 31st, 2006 by Rosa

Blowout Weekend 2006-The Party

Pope Legba’s workmate threw a helluva bash. Food and desserts and alcohol everywhere. Three christmas trees and decorations spilling over into backyard, bathrooms, kitchen, everywhere. Holiday Hullabaloo!

Shareen, the hostess, had made all the desserts herself. I wanted to try all of them but goddamn, even me, sugar fiend that I am, know my limits.

glowing hostess

I had gotten hold of the tv remote and then promptly hid it after tuning in “Deliverance.” The perfect party movie. In fact, looping Ned Beatty’s rape scene could enhance any get-together. Children came in and wanted to watch Disney Channel before I could make my getaway. Foul Beasts.

The house sits on an acre of land in an older part of Phoenix. 1940s Phoenix. And it looks as pristine as the day it first let the new owners move in. John, our host, said most of the neighbors were original owners, they were the youngest there.
The huge backyard had an actual grove of citrus trees. I was thinking this could be used for the folks who don’t want to drive to Sedona for a Druid experience. Hell, throw on some robes under a full moon, shake some crystals at them. 500 bucks a head. I’l have to write up my business proposal. Easy money.

A well humored crowd for the most part and I would gladly go to another shindig.

Government Gifts and Memorabilia: FirstGov.gov

Government Gifts and Memorabilia for Sale: FirstGov.gov

Let the Fed help you find gifts! I wish I would have known about this a few weeks ago!

My particular favorite is the DEA gift shop.
Want a reproduction of the badge worn during prohibition to hang on the tree? Who the hell wouldn’t?

The DEA Gift Shop

The Supreme Court has some curiously infantile offerings. Too many teddy bears holding scales. Creepy.
