A very good article about Dias de los Muertos with many resources.
“Dias de los Muertos has a complex history and because of this regional celebrations vary significantly. Some Mexicans begin this holy period on the evening of October 31. Others observe November 1 solely. Some communities extend the ritual for as long as a week. Key elements, though, appear in virtually all Mexican rituals: the ofrenda or altar, feasting, cempasuchiles (yellow marigolds), calaveras (skulls), incense (usually copal, a tree resin), pan de muerto (bread decorated with powdered sugar bones), and gravesite grooming.”

Holiday TV is good this year. Turner Classic Movies has been showing some but they’ve sort of dropped the ball this year and the Universal Horror movies will be on AMCTV. MonsterFest AMC. This weekend they will be showing all three Exorcist movies. Yes!
Congratulations to AMC on their Tenth Anniversary of MonsterFest. Bring back the community games!
Food Network Television will be running special editions of Halloween programming through Oct 31st. Need some spooky recipes? They’ve got all kinds of everything. Watch out for Paula Dean’s ” Road Kill Goblin Brownies ” though. Just watch out for her entirely. Truly scary woman any season.

Ah, Sci-fi channel. Some of the lousiest movies you will ever see but boy, they do have a festive atmosphere. Today was a slew of Hellraiser movies you never knew they made. There will be a special “Ghost Hunters” episode coming up.
Sci-Fi Channel
There will be trick or treating on all the channels, keep your eyes open for them. And then you can close them in fear. IN FEAR!!!!

Part II of the Halloween Photos. The Holiday Command goes outside.
I’ve never lived in a neighborhood that did so much decorating for Halloween. It’s wonderful. I can’t wait to see what they do for Christmas.
