Wells Fargo: Jack the Dog Ornament

December 12th, 2006 by Rosa

Let Wells Fargo get their hooks in you and they’ll give you a Christmas Ornament. Seems fair enough.

Jack the Dog–A Wells Fargo Legend

Beginning with the California Gold Rush, dogs like Jack guarded the gold in Wells Fargo’s mining camp offices and accompanied the agents when they carried the treasure to the stage coaches. Jack was the symbol of security and faithful service to all and remains your friend today.”

Jack is my friend.

Christmas Snapshots-Week Two

It’s the start of Week 2. Christmas cards almost ready for posting, winter diseases kicking in, traffic dangerous, and folks just gearing up for the truly despicable wretches that exist at the heart of their very being.

I love this time of year.

The Original Sun of God

December 9th, 2006 by Rosa

From EzineArticles:

The Original Sun of God
“Consider our ‘modern’ terms, Horizon and Sun Set. These terms belie their ancient history. Horus-sun (Horizon) was sunrise as Horus was the Egyptian god of light and the day light portion of the 24 hour cycle. Set, was the god of darkness and night. He came on the scene at ‘Sun Set’ and is the Jackal headed god of the Egyptian underworld.

When we say ‘what a beautiful Sun Set,’ we don’t realize we are speaking as one might in ancient Egypt. Darkness was the time of Set, god of darkness. Night time was not a good time in most ancient mythologies. This is why many a priest stood every morning acting as if by incantation and arm waving, he could bring back the Sun/Son from the Underworld of darkness and fear. The sun descending into hell is something it did every Sun-Set. There was relief every morning when the sun/son was reborn.”

This makes the Winter Solstice all the more celebratory. Grab a God, grab a sun(son), and get to merry making.
