Friday the 13th is a lovely day to celebrate Venus. The superstitions surrounding the day are Christian based. 13 sitting at the last supper with Jesus, Jacque DeMolay of the Knights Templar was taken on Friday the 13th and most of his followers wiped out. Yes, that would tend to make you think this was an unlucky day. But for them, not necessarily for you.
13 is a fine number. Friday, a wonderful day. Have a nice meal, enjoy yourself!

Pumpkins and More - Pumpkin History

From UIUC EDU:
“People have been making jack-o-lanterns at Halloween for centuries. The
practice originated from an Irish myth about a man nicknamed ‘Stingy
Jack.’ According to the story, Stingy Jack invited the Devil to have
a drink with him. True to his name, Stingy Jack didn’t want to pay for his
drink, so he convinced the Devil to turn himself into a coin that Jack could
use to buy their drinks. Once the Devil did so, Jack decided to keep the
money and put it into his pocket next to a silver cross, which prevented
the Devil from changing back into his original form. Jack eventually freed
the Devil, under the condition that he would not bother Jack for one year
and that, should Jack die, he would not claim his soul. The next year, Jack
again tricked the Devil into climbing into a tree to pick a piece of fruit.
While he was up in the tree, Jack carved a sign of the cross into the tree’s
bark so that the Devil could not come down until the Devil promised Jack
not to bother him for ten more years.

It’s a full plate of observances this month. Halloween, Day of the Dead, Witches New Year, all kinds of Greek, Roman, Hindu, pagan’y Harvest festivals.
Lots. Lots and lots of lots. Pick a few ways
to live it up to observe the living it down aspect of this season. The weather turns cold, food supplies dwindle, and in the old days, you best be appeasing any god you know of to get you through til next spring.
I am starting off with skulls, snickers bars, and some huge pumpkin lights. I am really observing with those snickers bars. Fun Size!
